Apple Valley Montessori provides programs to meet the needs of children from 18 months to twelve years. All programs offered by Apple Valley are five day programs. Children begin the Toddler Program at 18 months and continue until they are approximately three years old. The toddlers develop in the areas of language, movement, independence and socialization. The child learns to make choices, and "work" alone, or in small groups. Through their work, they develop concentration and self confidence. In group activities, the children participate in singing, stories and snack. Primary, or Children's House, is based on the premise that young children (2 years, 9 months - 6 years) flourish with gentle guidance and the freedom to work at their own pace. The goal for the children is to learn independence through a prepared environment of enriched learning materials as we "follow the child". In addition to following the Montessori curriculum, preschoolers learn about grace and courtesy, music and movement, art, and foreign language. After completing the Primary Program, the Montessori education may be continued inĀ Elementary. The goal of the Elementary Program is to empower children ages 7 -12 to become confident, competent students. The core curriculum provides instruction in all traditional subjects including math, science, geography, geometry, writing and literature. The Elementary program emphasizes critical thinking, problem solving and research skill development. As a service to parents, Before School Care is available starting at 7:30 AM and After School Care (Pepper Pot) is available from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM. Limited spaces are available on a prepaid, space-available voucher system. During the summer Apple Valley Montessori offers a Summer Session of six one week sessions, each with a different theme. |
